In the world we live in now, technology and the internet is essential for one to survive. I have taken my accessibility of the internet for granted. It is a privilege to be able to use the internet to fo homework and even apply for jobs.

Elizabeth Lindsey states in her TED Talk that there are 31 million adults in this country that don’t have access to the internet at home. Those are just the statistics of the adults, imagine all of the people taken accounted for in this country with no access to internet. With those adults that do not have access to the internet, one can not apply for a job in order to support their families. Especially at this time of a pandemic and not having the libraries to go to, it is the most difficult.

There was a story of two girls that had to go to Taco Bell in order to do their homework. This was not due to a bad house living, but a single mother who could not afford to pay for the internet. Where this occured, it is stated that 40% of latinos do not have access to the internet. That is a lot of people who can not apply for jobs, do their homework, or even have technological skills for jobs.

In the technological world we live in now, we have left millions behind with no internet access. There needs to be access for all, no matter the price. I have learned that I can not take what I have for granted because there are many people out there who do not have what I have.
